INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 cups butter, softened
1 3/4 cups brown sugar
6 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups chopped baking apples
1/2 cup dried currants or raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

INSTRUCTIONS

    Four Way Crumble Dough: Blend together butter and brown sugar at medium speed of electric mixer. Add flour; mix with electric mixer or hands. Divide and use 3 1/2 cups in this recipe. May be used immediately or stored in refrigerator up to 3 days.

    Press 2 1/2 cups dough onto bottom of 1/4 sheet pan. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes. Combine sour cream, 1/4 cup sugar, egg and vanilla; spread over crust. Top with apples and currants or walnuts; sprinkle with remaining 1 cup dough and nuts. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes. Cool to room temperature; refrigerate. Cut into 12 squares to serve as dessert or 36 bars to serve as cookies.
